Hey guys, we did it! It is a very special moment for us as we just reached a major milestone in our history - InspireTheme turned 5!

We launched back in January 2016 with just 3 templates and nothing else. No customers, no clear vision of where and what we want to be, basically nothing at all.
Fast forward to today, exactly 5 years later, we are very proud and happy of what we did and what we managed to become. We are now an official Joomla template provider, we offer 18 templates and 75 Gantry 5 particles, we sponsored many Joomla events throughout the years and most importantly of all, we managed to build an awesome community of Joomla and Gantry 5 users.

Except in our forums, where I speak with some of you every day, I realized that you have not heard from me for quite some time. So I thought that this is the right moment to let you know what has happened the last couple of years, what will happen from now on, and basically what I have in my mind.

What happened the last couple of years

Now, let start with some retrospection...
The last product we released (our Beauty template) was in the middle of 2018. Then we decided that it will be best if we do not release any more new products so we can have less work and less headaches when we update them for Joomla 4.
As you guys know, we are a very small team. For us, the release of a new major Joomla version means a lot of planning and a lot of work in order to make our products compatible.
Back then we thought that the stable Joomla 4 version will be released in the next 6 to 8 months, so we just took our time to look around and learn new technologies that will allow us to keep innovate and release one of the best and most powerful Joomla templates available on the market.

So far so good. But it does not always go according to the plan, especially when it does not depend on you.
For some reason, the Joomla 4 release was postponed time after time after time and like so for almost 2 years!

So this is the one and only reason why you have not seen much activity from us, apart from being active in the forums every single day :)

What will happen from now on

After the history lesson, let see what is the situation now :)
Well, the time has come! And this time for real. The stable version of Joomla 4 should be released before the Summer!

So what does that mean? It means that now we will have a couple of RCs (Release Candidates) and then Joomla 4 Stable will be officially released! In my opinion this will happen in April or May this year :)

A whole new era for our favorite CMS is ahead of us! But what about our favority framework?
Well, good news again! Actually, very good news :)
Have a look at this interview with Andy Miller, the founder and CEO of Rockettheme (the company behind the Gantry 5 framework). There are two awesome things that will come to Gantry 5 in the future - the Particles will be made installable via a custom installer (listen here) and there will be an official Particle Marketplace (listen here)!

I honestly cannot wait to see what the next few years will bring us with the super awesome CMS and framework that we have!

What are our plans for 2021?

Well, our plans have not really changed since last year.
In order to have new plans and goals we first need to get the following out of the way:

1. Release the Joomla 4 version of our templates - this is our main priority. Once Joomla 4 Stable is released we will need about 2 months to release our updated products.
2. Switch to UIkit v4 - again, once UIkit v4 is released we will need about 2 months to do the update.
3. Start releasing new products again - yes, you can expect us to start releasing new products once we do the above two things :)

I am getting really excited guys, as it seems that 2021 will be the year that we will focus all our effort and energy back in InspireTheme!
