Joomla! 4.4
In preparation for Joomla! 5.x, Joomla! 4.4 is primarily a release containing backports of API changes from the 5.x to help ease the transition to the next major release for the community.

Main Features
The following are the primary features introduced to Joomla! 4.4.0.
Joomla! 5 compatibility layer/Plugin
Joomla! Pre Upgrade checker
Proposed Features
This release does not accept any more features at this point other than intended for the pre upgrade checker and backports of 5.x features to improve compatibility.
Pull Requests Requiring Documentation
Some pull requests are merged before the documentation is written, a list of those pull requests can be found on GitHub. Each new feature should be documented on the documentation wiki by the developers involved to provide all information to users as well as helping 3rd party developers to integrate a feature to their extensions. Each page should have the following code inserted at the end: [[Category:Joomla! 4.x]] where the x is replaced with the version.2.9
Documentation Help Screens
The documentation help screens are based on a full major release series. As such, all of the help screens will require updates for Joomla! 4.0. In addition to the required updates, there is an idea proposal for a potential GSoC project to work on a new system to manage the screenshots; even if the project does not happen as part of GSoC the effort will continue otherwise.
Joomla! 5.x
Joomla! 5.x is the next major release series of the CMS.

Hi Marco,
Yes, I understand what you mean
But it is not possible for the Joomla project to release more 4.3.x version when 4.4.x is released.
So if there is a fix that should go in Joomla 4, it will go in version 4.4.x
The same thing as with Joomla 3.
They released 3.10.x as a bridge between Joomla 3 and Joomla 4.
And all fixes that had to go to Joomla 3 were released under 3.10.x
Anyway, all this is totally not important.
If you want to stay on Joomla 4, you will be on 4.4.x.
But there is really not point to stay on Joomla 4, so sooner or later you will update to Joomla 5.

No problem, Marco.
Nope, I think that Joomla 4.4.x will be the last Joomla 4 version.
There might be some minor releases like Joomla 4.4.1, 4.4.2... but I do not think that there will be Joomla 4.5.x

Hi Marco,
There is really no rush to update anything.
You can stay on v4.3.4 for as long as you want.
My advice is to do the following:
1. Wait until Gantry 5.5.17 is released and install it.
2. Wait until Joomla 5.0.1 or even 5.0.2 or 5.0.3 are released so some of the obvious bugs are fixed.
3. Only then update your website to Joomla 4.4.4 (which is a prerequisite for updating to Joomla 5).
4. Then update to Joomla 5.x
