    Hi!

Thanks for your nice and encouraging words Ivo :D

Indeed, Slider Revolution has nice features. I encountered several issues, at first with the installation and later when I tried to move it from localhost to hosting.
I think I spent 6-8 hours or so to get it working (and that is not the time for the design itself). Eventually I had to build the slider twice because it couldn't be imported properly.

The support provided by ThemePunch was really bad. I got answers like: "You have an issue? If you do the installation right, you won't get issues."
But I did what the documentation says... as far as I could follow it because in my opinion it is not complete and misses crucial information.

To be honest, I think that S.R. focusses on Wordpress and that Joomla is just some minor thing that doesn't have their priority. Most of the time when I was clicking through the documentation, in 2 clicks I was in the Wordpress documentation.

But it has those nice features... Does anyone have experience with offlajn.com (creative-slider). That was my 2nd option before I chose to work with S.R.

    Have a nice week!
    Stefan

@ Stefan: i have found just by chancehttps://smartslider3.com"> Smart Slider 3 ; there are two versions - free and pro - but even with the free version you can build something really good! Also there are different version for WP and Joomla and the tutorials are really useful and well detailed :) :) :)
I played a lot on local with Smart Slider 3 and was able to have good results without any hassle ;)

    Hi Elisabetta,

Thank you very much for the suggestion!
I read about Smart Slider 3 in an older post here on the forum, but I didn't take the time to have a closer look.
Now I did, and indeed, they have really nice features. And it's good to know that you worked with it without any hassle, so I am going to test it too.

    Thanks again!

    Stefan

I've also heard only good things about Smart Slider 3 but haven't really looked at it more closely.

To be honest, I think that S.R. focusses on Wordpress and that Joomla is just some minor thing that doesn't have their priority.

It is a bit complicated, I will try to explain it :)
So, ThemePunch are the founders and the developers behind the original Revolution Slider. But they develop it only as a standalone plugin (no CMS) and for WordPress.
Many years ago, ThemePunch decided that they do not want to develop and maintain a Joomla version of the Revolution Slider, so they gave the rights to another company to do it. The Revolution Slider that is so popular in the Joomla industry is developed and maintained by UniteCMS and is known as the "Unite Slider" or "Unite Revolution Slider". So this is the one that we use in our templates :)
It is basically the same as the ThemePunch version just ported for Joomla.

But an year ago ThemePunch decided to start developing and maintaining the Revolution Slider for Joomla as well.
    You can find it here.

So I'm not really sure if the Unite Slider and the Revolution Slider are still the same.
I know for sure that they are almost the same, but I'm not sure if they are 100% the same :)

    Hi!

It was just this afternoon that I was looking through the forum and I noticed Ivo's explanation of Unite Slider vs Revolution Slider. I must have missed this in December, sorry. Thanks for the explanation, Ivo. This makes it all clear to me. I wondered many times, about how much Unite Slider looks like Revolution Slider; and even 'Slider Revolution' is shown in the backend of Unite Slider.

Right now, we have a choice between Unite and SR. SR comes with a large library filled with demo sliders, that can be adjusted. As far as I can see, Unite doesn't offer this. But as I said before, those demo sliders brought me some headaches in the past few months.
In the end they work, but with a lot of effort and some tickets, I even got some custom PHP from ThemePunch that I have to add manually. And now, autoplay doesn't work (even muted), so I am still not totally happy with SR. Next time I will choose Unite or Smart 3 to be able to compare. ;)

    Have a nice evening!
    Stefan

I have been using Smart Slider 3 for years and it is excellent. The current version is a little bit trickier to customize because it is using layers but it allows you to do some cool things.

I bought a lifetime deal with them about 5 years ago - unlimited use - can't beat it. They also have a bunch of templates to pull in to get you started.
