New website with Glory

Hi all,

I just finished a website based on Glory:

paulbezembinder.nl

Again, a pleasure to work with an IT template :)

Has anyone ever encountered this strange thing:
the client wanted a redirect from .be to .nl.
This works but, on the .be domain the website doesn't scale.
I think this is a dns or hosting thing... but maybe someone has any idea out of their own experience? ;)

Have a nice weekend,
regards,
Stefan

Hey Stefan,

I truly love the websites that you build with our templates!
There is so much personal touch, you configure them quite differently than the demo/quickstart, but at the end they look awesome!
Great work, once again ;)

Regarding the issue with the .be domain - what is it exactly? Can you describe the problem with a bit more details please?
I just don't understand what you mean by "the website doesn't scale". I checked the website on the .be domain and everything looks good :)

    Hi Ivo,

Thanks for your nice words :D
About the .be... did you view it on your desktop? Because, there everything works fine ;) that's what I meant by 'scale', don't know the word, but what I mean is that the .nl website is responsive (because your template is).. but viewing the .be on a phone, it is just the website (not responsive) that you see :o

    Have a nice weekend!
    Stefan

    Hi Stefan,

Yep, I viewed it on a Desktop.
Now I tested the .be website on my phone and I noticed the issue :)

The issue is caused by the way you do the redirection.
I don't know how you do it, I mean is it a Joomla extension, is it a feature that comes from your Hosting Provider, etc.
The thing is that the redirection is wrapping the whole website in additional div and then an additional iframe. And this is breaking the responsiveness.

Here, have a look at this video that I recorded for you. It shows what I mean.

Just remove the current redirection and do a proper one :) If you are not sure how to do it, just contact your Hosting Support and they should do it for you.
Apart from breaking the responsiveness, your current setup (redirection) is not good because your website can be accessed with two different URLs which for Google is duplicate content ;)

    Hi Ivo,

You helped me very much :D Thanks for taking the time to even record a video for me.
With the insights you gave, I was able to explain the issue to my hosting provider.
Right now, I have a proper redirection and the website is responsive.
With 1 difference, the .be doesn't remain in the address bar, a visitor is directly redirected to the .nl.

On Google, I learnt that that kind of 'alias' domain is not a good practice with seo, as you already said.
So again a little bit wiser!

    Have a nice evening,
    best regards,
    Stefan

    No problem at all Stefan!

Yep, this is the proper domain redirection - all domains redirect to a single (the main) domain.
This is what we do as well. Open the following domains and see what happens ;)

    inspire-theme.com
    inspire-themes.com
    inspirethemes.com
