Support Forum

Ladies and Gentlemen,

please tell me if your template "Headlines" uses Google fonts. Since I have assumed that this is not the case and the fonts are obviously connected by Joomla itself, I would like to ask if there is anything against using a tool like "JMG Disable Google Font" or if there is another simple solution to remove the Google fonts. This is necessary in Germany due to the DSGVO, if you don't want to conclude a contract with Google and don't want the listing in the privacy policy.

The following fonts are listed:

fonts.googleapis.com

https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=open+sans:300,300italic,600,600italic,700,700italic,400,400italic

fonts.gstatic.com

http://fonts.gstatic.com/s/opensans/v17/mem8yags126mizpba-ufvz0b.woff2
http://fonts.gstatic.com/s/opensans/v17/mem5yags126mizpba-un7rgouuhp.woff2
http://fonts.gstatic.com/s/opensans/v17/mem5yags126mizpba-unirkouuhp.woff2

I would be pleased about any support

Best regards

Hermann

Hello Hermann,

The Gantry 5 framework uses the Google Fonts.
If you do not want to use Google Fonts, then just change the Fonts in the Template Settings (see the first screenshot).
There is a local font that comes with the template (see the second screenshot).
Also, please have a look at this discussion. It explains how to use custom fonts in great details.

    Hello Ivo,

Many thanks for your prompt reply. The hint with the Roboto does not really work perfectly, although I changed everything from the default font to the local Roboto font. I also deleted the templates Protostar and Beez3, but nevertheless I get the hint that the third party requests for Google Fonts exist when I test it with "webbkoll.dataskydd.net/en". Is there an easy solution to delete these connections?
I look forward to hearing from you.

    With kind regards

    Hermann

    Hello Hermann,

I'm not sure where this Google Fonts come from if you are using a local font.
Anyway, this is out of the scope of support and in my personal opinion you really shouldn't care about it.
Yes, I do understand that you want to be strict, but the whole world uses Google Fonts without any contracts and whatever.

If you want more information you might want to open a new issue on Github and the Gantry 5 developers will reply.
You might also want to ask your question in the Gantry 5 chatroom on Gitter.

    Hello Ivo,

thank you for your prompt response. I agree with you in principle. However, customers are becoming more and more cautious due to the increasingly strict interpretation of the regulations and in Germany, unfortunately, people tend to exaggerate such things.

Thanks for your support and happy new year

    Hermann
